5 Tips to Help You Stick to Your 2023 New Year’s Resolution

by | Dec 19, 2022

Can you believe 2023 is almost here? Have you thought about what you would like your New Year’s Resolution to be? I’ve been debating if I wanted to do one this year because I can’t seem to stick with them…. (Insert sigh).

I always start out with great intentions but eventually, they get overrun by old habits. I can’t seem to cut out carbs or Starbucks! So this year, I put together 5 tips to help me stick to my 2023 New Year’s Resolution and I am here to share them!

Tip #1 | Goals Should Motivate You
Make sure your goal is important to YOU and you see value in YOUR goal. Don’t be pressured into something just because your friend, spouse, or co-worker is doing it.

Tip #2 | Be Realistic
Dramatic changes will only set you up for failure. Try setting smaller, more obtainable goals. Then, when you’ve met those, you can move on to bigger goals.

Tip #3 | Get Mentally Prepared
Not only do you want to be mentally prepared but you want to make the change gradually. Diving head-on into something new can be hard! Track your progress so you can look back at it and see how far you have come!

Tip #4 | Forgive Yourself
We are humans and unfortunately, that means we aren’t perfect. Don’t be too hard on yourself for eating a donut or skipping a day at the gym. Make each day a fresh start!

Tip #5 | Reward, Reward, Reward
We must acknowledge our accomplishments, even the smallest ones. So, treat yourself to rewards that won’t conflict with your commitment. I promise you will thank yourself for this one!

Using these tips will help you get on track for 2023. If you need more help with goal setting check out our course “Goal Management” and let us know how you are doing on your goals for 2023. Happy New Year and happy goal setting!
